And I\u2019ll never forget what he said. <b>\u201cHoney, I love burned biscuits every now and then.\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Later that morning, <b>I asked him if he really liked his biscuits burned?<\/b><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<b>He wrapped me in his arms <\/b>and said, \u201cYour Mama puts in a hard day at work every day and she gets tired: <b>There\u2019s just as much love in a burned biscuit as there is in an unburned one: <\/b>And besides, a little burned biscuit every now and then never hurt anybody!\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cccm.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Burnt-Biscuit2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-1027\" alt=\"Burnt Biscuit2\" src=\"http:\/\/www.cccm.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Burnt-Biscuit2.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The author Art Ernst and his wife of Jane (they got married for 57 years)<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<b>As I\u2019ve grown older, I\u2019ve thought about that morning many times. <\/b>Life is not always fair and it is full of imperfect things and imperfect people and I\u2019m not perfect.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0I forget things like everybody else. But what I\u2019ve learned over the years, is that <b>learning to accept each other\u2019s faults and choosing to celebrate each others differences is one of the most important keys to creating healthy, growing, and lasting relationships.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Throughout our married life, if my wife, Jane, burned something, I\u2019d say, <b>\u201cSweetheart, I like it that way.\u201d <\/b>Which I really did, as she prepared it out of love. All her food has one main ingredient, \u201cLOVE\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<b>And that\u2019s my wish for each of my children and grandchildren; <\/b>that you will learn to take the good, bad and ugly parts of your life and overcome them with kindness: Because in the end\u2026<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<b><i>True thoughtfulness, forgiveness and consideration will give you a relationship where a burnt biscuit ain\u2019t such a big deal!<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<b>This can be extended to any relationship. <\/b>In fact, understanding is the real basis of all relationships, be it brother-sister, husband-wife, parent-child, partners or just plain old friendship!<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Learn to be resilient.<\/p>\n<p>Be kinder than necessary because everybody you meet is fighting some kind of battle.<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t put the key to your happiness in someone else\u2019s pocket \u2014 keep it in your own.<\/p>\n<p><b>\u201cSo, please pass me a biscuit,\u201d <\/b>and yeah, the burned one will be just fine!<\/p>\n<p>Remember,\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><b><i>\u201cAs rain and sunshine nourish the flowers, so praise and encouragement nourishes the human spirit.\u201d<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p>This is the lesson I learned at Breakfast 80 years ago.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<b>\u201cThanks, Dad!\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0From Dad, with Everlasting Love, to Rick, Randy and Heather, and all the Grands.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cccm.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Burnt-Biscuit3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-1028\" alt=\"Burnt Biscuit3\" src=\"http:\/\/www.cccm.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Burnt-Biscuit3.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"222\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>(Left to Right) Wife Jane, son Rick, daughter Heather, son Randy, and Art<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Art lives in a retirement home in Nebraska with his wife of 57 years, Jane.
